2nd Annual New Hampshire Guides’ Association Banquet

Friday December 4th, 2009 ~ 5:00 PM

Courtyard Marriott Grappone Conference Center
70 Constitution Avenue
Concord, NH 03301

Dear NH Sportsmen and Sportswomen,

The New Hampshire Guides’ Association (NHGA) is pleased to extend an invitation for you to attend our 2nd Annual NH Guides’ Association Banquet. We will have a nice dinner, which will be catered to us by the Courtyard Marriott Grappone Conference Center. Cocktail Hour and your opportunity for auction prize viewing will begin at 5:00 and Dinner will begin at 7:00. A cash bar will be open through to the conclusion of the evening.

Funds raised are primarily through your participation in the raffles, silent auction and live auction events and not through your admission price. We are very fortunate to have two grand prize raffle drawings – the 1st is a Savage Arms Model 111 rifle in the 30-06 caliber. This will be paired up with a guided Black Bear hunt. 2nd is an Orvis Helios 5wt fly rod and an Orvis Batenkill large arbor reel outfit to be paired up with a guided fly fishing trip. These top tier raffles will be conducted by selling only 100 tickets for each.

Additionally, among many of the prizes available we will have a 12 gauge camo turkey shotgun, sporting artwork, lodging at Tall Timbers Lodge, a guided bird hunt, guided fishing trips, dozens and dozens of flies tied by NH Guides, and plenty of hunting and fishing accessories too numerous to mention. George S. Foster III, CAI, NH’s best and most well known sporting auctioneer, is generously donating auction services.

The NHGA originally began its existence in Pittsburg, NH as a local chapter of the Isaac Walton League. In 1932, lumberjacks working in New Hampshire’s lumber and paper industry founded the current association. While hunting and fishing have always been a part of our American heritage, President Teddy Roosevelt’s lead in conservation and love of outdoor sports brought about a resurgence in hunting and fishing expeditions to remote areas early in the 20th century. Hunting and fishing were no longer just a means of subsistence, but a new way of recreating. Great North Woods lumberjacks were all too willing to capitalize on the new tourism that had gained such popularity. These lumberjacks guided hunters for black bear, whitetail deer, and upland birds and anglers for lake trout and brook trout. Once limited to only Pittsburg, The NHGA is now a statewide organization of hunting and fishing guides still serving the sports minded client. Our vision as the New Hampshire Guide’s Association is to become internationally recognized as the nations most qualified, respected, and trusted outdoor professionals.

If you have any questions, you may contact NHGA President Harry Mehos at 603-387-1801 or Banquet Committee Chairman Angus Boezeman at 603-225-7363 (daytime). Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you all at the banquet.

Sincerely,

The New Hampshire Guides Association Board of Directors and Banquet Committee
