Just made my reservations at Malinda’s WED DEC27, THURDEC28, FRI DEC29. Heading to the River 1AM WED. Coming Home FRI about 2PM,
Always a great week up there, No crowds and plenty of Steelhead and Browns.

Weather is usually Nice to, either Snows Constantly with Highs in the 30’s, or teens and sub zero. Frozen Lines, Guides and Fingers etc.
Come On Up!

I've never been to the Salmon River before but have heard many things about it. What weight fly rod would you bring if one was to go out there..? 8 or 9wt? I'm thinking a 6wt would be to light? Would you recomend a guide or just find a spot along the river?
My friend has been asking me to go out there lately but he just got into fly fishing himself...And I guess after I took him to the Pemi for some Brood stock salmon action he's ready to catch a monster.. :D

You got to fit the SR in to your fishing game plan for the Late Fall early winter season. I have hunted , got Deer and birds but don't consider myself a Hunter. The SR fills that OCT-JAN no fishing void.

I try to get up there once a month all winter was There 2 weeks ago and will be heading up in 2 weeks (NOV9-11). Head on up when I am going and you won't need a guide , cheap trip Lodging is $30 Night. 7Hr from the NH Border including gas and coffe stops.

I Have fished with three differenet Guides up there, One I Can highly Recomend is

Troy is a great Guy and can do 1/2 day boat 1/2 day wade or anything you want. He also has a magizine and does lake charters in the summer.

There are other good guides up there , but they are just as many really bad ones.

I will post a report from the NOV trip, I can't wait either SteveH.

The river has been blown out and will be till atleast this FRI. There is rain/ snow forecasted up there everyday this week. If we hit it right and the River remains high then drops the week we are there fishing will be awesome, fresh steel and browns that have not been fished much!

Or
It is blown out and we don't go

I can't imagine it will go three weeks blown out, the business will really be screwed if they do. They make all there $ Sept-Nov up there. The power company is fixing the dam up there and and the water levels are suposed to stay at 330 all winter.
