Hey guys, I am looking over my wooden poling platform and rethinking it. I want to go with a metal one, but just can't see spending $700 +s/h so I was wondering if anyone did any metal fabrication and would be interested in doing some for some money. It doesn't have to be complex just four round legs that are angled all slightly toward the top, with bases welded to the bottoms, supports welded in between legs and a flat rectangle bracket welded to the top. It should be 14 welds in all and pretty much small ones at that. I think I can get my hands on the metal, but if you can find it that would be even sweeter. I plan to fit it with a plywood top, so its just the frame I need made. Don't care what kind of metal its made out of, whatever you think would work best.

thanks
Caleb

Tom Jurtas over at Mt Road Fly Shop is a welder. I actually discussed this very topic with him earlier this year, and I think I'm going to have him fasion one for me as well.

excellent Harry, thanks for the heads up, any way that I can get in touch with him? Just call the shop and ask for him, or should I email him?

Thanks
Caleb

Caleb,

Just call the shop during business hours, he's usually in. You could email or PM Tom if it's more convenient. When you do it, let me know how it works out. Since my boat is a flat bottom skiff, it's a natural to being poled around. When Tom does mine, I want it to be fastened with wing nuts so I can easily take it off when not needed.
