So I will start the report from the Second Annual (maybe?) Saltwater Get-Together, feel free to just add images to this post if you want.

My alarm went off at 2:45 A.M., but it wasn’t that hard to get up and get out the door. I was up a little later then normal the night before tying some flies, which I ended up not even using for this trip. They came out nice, so I am sure I will put them to good use later on when I find some Bass! Speaking of Bass, they were hard to come by!

Lowwall, Natefish and I were there at 4:00 A.M. to fish the last few hours of the outgoing, and boy was it outgoing! I fish at Hampton Harbor often, but this is the lowest low tide that I have seen in a long time. Within the first 30 min., Lowwall and I were into some small bass, and Natefish hooked and lost a jumping Shad. I ended up using a size 2 Clouser minnow, Olive and white to catch most of the fish today, and good thing I had it, or I would have missed out on all the Shad! Eventually several others showed up and everyone was hammering the Shad (forgive me, I don’t remember everyone’s names).

Lots of people ended up leaving, and that left Natefish and I in the Harbor fishing a strong incoming tide, and just as they left the fishing started to turn on for me. I managed to catch a few more small bass and some more bronco Shad.
We tried to fish the inner Harbor but got skunked, so we headed north to Odiorne. Hiked out to the Jetty and it was looking really good out there, strong wind from the east made it difficult to fly cast. Natefish forgot to bring his stripping basket, so I loaned him mine while I threw a 6” sluggo (hey, I would have been fly-fishing if I had a stripping basket). Turned out to be the fish of the day for me, a fat 21”!

I had a great time, nice to meet some new people!
