I've had a set of chota boots for 2 1/2 years. The elastic laces are torn in half and destroyed now on each boot...they both died within a week of each other. The elastics inside all broke. The sole on one of the boots came off last year and I mailed it to the manufacturer and they fixed it free of charge.....it popped off a month later.
The boots are extremely comfortable and convenient yet I'll be hesitant to ever purchase another pair until the elastic lacing is reinforced.

Sound like lacing is only part of what needs to be improved.

I own two pair, one felt, the other studded. The first thing I did with both was replace the laces. By far the most comfortable wading boots I've worn. I think the only drawback is the lacing system, I could never get them to stay tight (or they broke).

I also had a pair of chota - studded model. My only problem with them was that the soles fell off after about a year of use. My thought is that any shoe really isn't supposed to last much longer than that.... especially if you use them often

I have had my Chotas for two years now. Best boot I have ever owned. My wife has a pair that are three years old. We both guide and are on the water a lot more then the casual angler. The one problem the laces self destruck.
Thats why I carry a spare. The quick lace system is so great that it is worth the hassle.
