Anyone ever tried this? If so where are some good carp waters in NH? I think it would be fun to catch a fish that size on a fly rod locally.

I caught a few in a river in Ohio when fishing for smallmouth. Took them on wooly buggers and #16 nymphs. Carp are very strong. It can take quite a while to land a 24" fish if you're using 4x or 5x tippet. Several years ago Fly Fisherman had an article about carp--strong, colorful fish that tolerate warm and polluted water. There are some places in the Midwest where people fish for them intentionally, e.g. Green Bay. They spook easily in lake shallows, so make that first cast count.

one of my buddies goes up to the missouri river in montana below holter dam to fish for carp (no thats not much use here), but he always uses rather drab crayfish patterns slowly needled along the bottom, or if sight fishing slowly stripped by the carp.
it was always funny to hear his description of the reactions he got as he was specifically targeting carp on a river that people travel the world to fish for trout on.

There not as big as carp but we get lots of 4 and 5 lb suckers on
nymphs and glowbugs in the wiloughby river this time of year
when there up to spawn.

They break the monotony when the trout fishing is slow
