I was fortunate to be taken on a trip to Alaska earlier this month, and while in many ways it was not what we expected (crowds, combat fishing, spooky, difficult fish) I did get into a precious few of the biggest fish of my life, including this one, my first fish ever from saltwater.

Got another one that was considerably bigger but wouldn't pose well, and vistas like this did somewhat make up for the lack of action.

I learned a lot and if I ever get the chance to go back I'm sure I'll get into more fish. I've already looked into it, but the plan must go on the back burner for now; you can call me Edgar Allen, cuz I'm a "Poe" boy for sure.

Being up there for a week far too much happened to try and post about all of it but I'll give a full report in person sometime.
I do have an 8wt now so who knows, maybe the Salmon River is in my future. Athough I find myself looking forward to the fall run of landlocks more than anything else.
Too bad about your boat. Keep me posted. I've been practicing with the 8 for stripers. You'd think after fishing it for a week straight I'd be better but as it stands I can barely cast it further than my 4wt.

I will be fishing the sea coast area as usual this week end. Hopefully with Solid and maybe lowwall if he gets desperate enough. As already stated in other threads this is the time of year for striper fishing. I would strongly recomend adding this fish to your catch list. The addiction after your first fish will ruin relationships but its worth it. If you are around this week end send me a pm and I would be more than happy to show you around.

If the word on the street is correct, you live very VERY close to some very good Striper fishing. No excuses, shame on you!
