My gut reaction to these catch phrases has always been the same, I am all for it.! The more the better.
The more fish the better the fishing! The little ones are to small to eat let those goes and pick up a fatty for the table. Things are just not that simple it seems.

Maybe the small ones are too small to eat, but sometimes one has to cull out an intermediate sized fish to eat. There is only so much feed to make fish bigger, and catch and release may not always be the wisest choice. Maybe there is a fish biologist out there to help explain......

And there's good reason to eat smaller fish besides saving the lunkers for the gene pool.
1) Fewer accumulated toxins (mercury, PCBs, etc)
2) Better taste!!
I'd rather eat a 28" striper than a 40" any day. Better yet, get a slot limit like Maine has and enjoy a nice 22-24" fish. Perfect eating size!!
(I complain about NH fishing regs a lot, don't I?!!)

 I don't think a bourbon man could be bad. It's those scotch sippers you need to watch out for.
