I'm looking into a new light for my tying bench. Not just a light, but a magnifier as well. I'm not looking for a cheap out, but at the same time I don't want to mortgage the house either. I guess I'd like a quality set up that is versatile.

Tell me about the set up you have and what you like and dislike about it. Manufacturers name and model number would be great info to have as well.

Thanks

I use the Daylight brand,

You can over pay for the Ott light.

I have an old (no visible name) lamp that has a swivel and spring-tension height adjustments. It has a big magnifier surrounded by a circular flourescent tube. It's perfect, but I'm not sure that I'll ever find a replacement tube when the current one goes, so I'm interested in options.

I'm currently using the same set-up as dcs2 and have the same fears as far as finding a replacement bulb. I too look forward to hearing what others use and like.

Here's another curiousity; anyone else consider the ergonomics of their tying station? I just had an analysis done of my work station and am going to apply it at home. My neck and shoulders take a beating.

Marcus:
This is very much like the light I have and find so helpful. I'd go for the 5" lens.

Actually, I don't tie my own...yet. I am an electronics technician, and I have used such a "Magnifier Loupe" in my work for years. However, should I ever succumb the the fly tying bench, I will definitely need such a light.

I use a Giraffe light and magnifier. there is no rim on the magnifier which I find to be less distracting. The light is bright and although I don't see much difference it mimics daylight for accurate color selection. The only drawback is It's not cheap...
