A friend of mine, Eric Austin, has a new (totally non-commercial) website that displays some of his flies and some by fine tiers from other parts of the world -- Traditional Trout and Salmon Flies of Europe and the Americas (http://www.traditionalflies.com). Great site....beautiful photography. What I found interesting was the contrast between the pre and post 1930 wet fly patterns. Notice the trend to more realistic and drab colors after 1930. Likely reflecting the change from wild brookie fishing to angling for stocked browns.
