I've been fishing Booby Flies the past two seasons with good results. For those unaquainted with this pattern, it's essentially a wooly bugger with closed-cell foam at the head. Fished with a short leader and a hi-density full-sinking line, the fly is fished in deep water and along drop offs. The bouyant foam keeps it riding high above the weeds. The brookies love it and hit 'em hard. Great fly! Tight lines, Alec

Nice fish. Could we get a look at the fly?

Here's how they are originally tied - you can see how it got it's name!

When i tie them I use Rainy's foam in the tube shape that I just cut to length and lash on - works great. Cheers, Alec

From what you've described it sounds like this fly will want to float to the surface when it’s stationary and sink when it's retrieved. If I'm right it seems like it would move up and down in the water column like a wounded baitfish.

Where did you hear about boobies? Our club has a source in Great Britain from which we buy flies. The boobies came HIGHLY recommended! Please consider revealing your source.

Put a bra on that thing.

With a name like that and the full figure to match, there is no limit to what that fly could catch.
