This is suppoed to be a fishing site however when I check this there is never anything new. I guess I will have to start. I have been fishing all over the state and can't wait until the strpers get here but early in the season I like to catcvh trout and salmon.
So far this year has not been as productive as the previous year. I think it all has todo with the water temps not so much the levels. the high water means its harder to access spots and to get down to the fish. Fish will bight but they will not waste their energy.
I have caught several Rainbows and one Brown between 12-16 inches. I lost a hog actually several of them.
I had a fishing conversation with a good friend of mine and it led to guides about catching fish and this was the end result. "I can catch'em, I jsut need to land'em." I thought that was kind of funny.
Well there are reports of some stripers showing up, not enough for me to waste the time to hunt them down, I think mabey another 10 days or so. they are not too far south of us.
The water levels nowd around the state and Maine are fishable and the temps in the southernpart are perfect right around 50 up north they are slowly going into the lower to mid 40's depending on whre you are. The stocking trucks have been doing their jobs how about you . there are alot of cleanups this week aswell.
Good Luck
Blake

Nice report, but I'm not sure what you mean when you say there is nothing new???? Have you been following the Fishing Reports or the Salt Water sections of the forum? I see new posts there daily.

All kinds of fishing info here.....not sure what you mean? Stripers are swimming around the marshes and estuaries in Southern Maine. Like you said, sporadic hookups...but soon...very very soon.

I talked to a friend of mine today who has a buddy at the I+FW and the alewife are in on the Lamprey all the way up to the dam. He watched the stripers chow down on them this week. The alewife are stacked up trying to get up the fish ladder and the stripers are feasting.

Get out and fish!

It seems the stripers follow the black flies pretty closely!

I am sorry... I knew someone might take it that way. It just didn't seem that interactive and I am not sure that is the right word ...Mabey just boring? You get in what you put out.
Anyway I love to fish and fish just about every day someway or another. I was at the Lamprey today and I didn't see one EEl or the elwives.I did manage to catch a chub though. I even fished with worms with my four year old son and didn't loose one worm we only used one. I have cought some monsters in there though and its good to know they are all live and well.
I was also on the coast in the back channel...Nothing just one Corrmerant, swimming , I will take the temp tomorrow. I fell the Striper in the coast however will be here in the next 10 days all the fresh water will put the lobsters ou t and keep any migration of large Stripers out as well.

Any good early season Fly/size recommendations? Or just stick to the basics? Going to be hitting Dover's Henry Law park hard over the next few weeks in search of an early season cow.
