O.K. It looks like there is interest in an "End of Season" outing. I'm thinking October 8th and/or 9th, that way if the streams and rivers aren't fishing well we can still go to the ponds. The only question now would be WHERE? Any suggestions?

Too bad you couldnt do a "Cast and Blast" kinda weekend to keep the "Birders and Fishers" happy!

Just a thought!

This weekend PW and I stopped into Mollidgewock State Park which is right on the Androscoggin River. It will be open until October 15th, so PW suggested we have the get-to-gether there October 8th & 9th. I'm O.K. with that if everyone else is. It's a beautiful location with some excellent looking water from the point on down river. The Park Ranger suggested we make reservations, so perhaps a sign-up list of some sorts is in order. If you're going and would like a camp site reserved respond here with the comment "RESERVE ME A SITE"

With regard to the "cast and blast", that's fine with me as well. That time of year you can fish all day, so if some of you want to split you're day between grouse hunting and fly fishing go for it.

Oh yes, the Andro did look promising, didn't it? I've marked my calendar. I'll be there.

Fessie,

That's Columbus Day weekend. I'd vote for the following weekend ( if I can vote) as there's no way I'm getting away that one between soccer and my anniversary!

I GIVE UP.

Ken B is right, Columbus Day weekend is probably not a good weekend to try to put something together. If someone else wants to organize something, go right ahead. I was never really good at that organizing thing anyway.

Let's do the first weekend in October 1st & 2nd. I'll take the reins on this. I'd like to see an organized get together Saturday morning for breakfast at the campground. Since it will be cool weather the fish will be active all day long so we don't have to be on the water at daybreak. As far as what kind of organized event I don't know yet I'll work on that. But at least we can all meet have something to eat and figure out where the fish are. Everyone can head off for the day to fish, bird hunt etc. In the evening we can have an informal get together and socialize. What would people be interested in attending on Saturday morning? Perhaps a speaker, casting demonstration, fly tying. This is all new so I have no idea what people would like. I'll consider what ever you guys want to do send me some feedbak please! Whatever we do end up doing I don't see it lasting for more than an hour or two that way we can get to the important activities FISHING!

PW, kudos to you for grabbing this bull by the horns! Count me in for the weekend indicated, Oct 1&2. As for an event in the a.m on Saturday, perhaps as you suggested, a speaker, maybe someone familiar with the Andro who can advise as to flies and techniques particular to the river, someone who might step up and volunteer to speak to those attending. (Especially me!)

Again, count me in!

Diane Emerson (the State F&G biologist for the Androscoggin Region) has agreed to come give a talk on her ongoing research for the Dead Diamond and Magalloway Rivers. Diane has implanted radio tracking devices in small native brook trout and is studding their movements through the watershed. Should be a very interesting talk!!! Diane will also talk about the trophy section on the Androscoggin below Gorham and help clearly define some of the current regulations. The talk will begin at 10AM on Saturday. That should leave plenty of time for some to fish the early morning and still come back to the campground to attend Diane's talk.
