Does anybody have any patterns they'd like to share using turkey feathers. I've only ever used the tails for wing cases on nymphs. The breast fathers have an iridescence that looks like they could make some interesting streamers. My dad got one this morning so I have a surplus of feathers now.

PW,

Make sure you get the wing feathers. You'll need both wings to have matched pairs. Their great on wet flies for wings. Also the small feathers on the legs just where the feathers stop. They can be used for Nancy's Prayers. That should get you a start.

The flats are generally from the domesticated white turkeys.

You can tie some very nice wings and tails for muddler minnows with the mottled wing quills as well as the tail feathers.

I love the way these dark feathers look on a muddler!
