Took my annual Memorial day weekend trek to the CT river for some walleye and pike action. Fishing was tough as walleye angling is all about boat control and between the wind and current it was near impossible to do that. Managed to boat a few keepers . . . MMMMM!!
Took a break to flyfish one of the setbacks for northerns and caught a couple "hammer handles" before managing to hook - and lose - the biggest pike I've ever had on (on a flyrod no less!) No it didn't bite through my tippet - I was using one of those new tie-able wire leaders (which work sweet BTW.) I was trying to get the digital camera ready for some awesome in-the-water "Nome-esque" porn pics when . . . well, if you've ever fished for pike, you know the rest of the story. He took that opportunity to take off on one last run and managed to throw the fly. Alas, no pics of that monster but here's some good eatin'
