Back in June of 1989 I decided that I needed to broaden my horizons. I was living in Down East Maine at the time. So I packed up the old Toyota Pickup with fishing gear, my wife and went on a trip to New Hampshire and Vermont trout fishing. Fished many places in NH including the Connecticut River and the Upper Andy. On the way home I stopped at Conway NH, so my wife could shop. Wow! was I surprised to see the Saco River, which runs through the town, full of big trout. Fished for two more days than what I should have. Had a lot fun. That was a long time ago. Neither the Toyota nor my wive is still with me. I sold the Toyota and the wife left on her own accord. I have always wondered if the fishing is like that every year on the Saco?

The Saco and Ellis are both great rivers. True the stocking truck helps. The local trout club puts in a few browns every year in the Saco. Best time of year is June. Big spinner falls in the evening and early morning. There are some good size holdovers and there are some wild brookies in the upper Ellis. Oh Yeah you can also fish the Swift, Wildcat, Rocky Branch, and East Branch and there are a few good trout ponds thrown in for good measure. e mail me if you want more details.

I was back there in the early 80's til mid 90's. Is the Saco still a good place to fish right behind the golf course? If that river isn't the Saco.. is the river by the golf course good? It's been awhile and old age is setting in... or maybe CRS.....

Yup thats the one. At that point gets deep and fast if I remember right from 15 years ago. I am sure others can anwser your question better. Maybe remeber an old river is like rembering an old girlfreind. Might not be the same after 15 years or so.
