Rainbows in Profile

I talked to a guy a work today who said he caught a rainbow in Profile. I though they were managing this a a trophy brook trout water? Anybody know of this?

You are right- it is managed as a quality brook trout pond. I have only caught brookies and the occassional (gulp) yellow perch. I can't imagine a rainbow being taken from there...but then again the Sox are World Champions!

Most likely a Brook Trout that they think is a rainbow. I am amazed by how many people can't identify trout species.

That's what i thought too but he's pretty sure it was a rainbow and said he showed it to his buddy who said the same thing. I have someone checking with the IFW.

I think one possibility is that a stray rainbow trout somehow ended up in a brook trout holding pool at the hatchery or maybe was left in the truck tank from a previous stocking. I think I've heard of this happening before.

got a brown at Archery pond. so they do get mixed species in their stocking occasionally.
