Just wondering if gas prices have started to alter your fishing plans? It's getting to the point where it certainly is going to have an effect on mine. Living in southern NH limits your cold water fishing opportunities ( yes, that's somewhat subjective) so it's necessary to travel quite a bit to find better opporunities. I'm still planning on making the trips but find myself not buying other things to help cover the cost of the gas.

How about you?

Uggg - I've heard it's going to go to $3.00 and stay there! Maybe the smart thing to do is to relocated to be closer to better water!

When I lived in Millfud I was able to Trout fish spring, summer and fall locally and when I wasn't Trout fishing I was into some very good Bass fishing. If I was still living down there I'd even be looking at other warm water species on light tackle. Fishing is what you make it and I don't think you have to drive to remote and/or exotic places to enjoy yourself.

I've had a trip to Labrador Canada on the agenda for close to a year. It's about a thousand miles each way by car. The gas prices don't really matter though. I'm going.

And ... I don't have as many trips to the Northwoods this summer. But, I think that is because I had a 10 day vacation planned to Pittsburg, and the trip to Canada on the map.

Recently, my wife lost her job, which is putting a little bit of a crimp on the money we used to 'play' with on recreational outings. So, if she doesn't find a job by September, I may not have the regularly planned September trip to the North Country. Less about gas, more about the whole cost of the trip, lodging and food too.

I hope everyone is able to find some fish close by.

It hasn't changed my plans any but the money is coming from somewhere (hamburg instead of steak? Miller Lite instead of Gritty's?). I have noticed more available boat slips in this area though. I have to think the more recreational (boating, rv'ing) areas are really taking a hit. I drive over 70,000 miles a year (business and personal) and the prices at the pump are killing me! I WILL NOT change my fishing habits, something else will be sacrificed. My beer can't get much cheaper!

I just took a trip to the Finger Lakes in NY and they are getting killed with gas prices out there - worse than here on the Cape. Travel is still relatively cheap though - we recently bought an old fiberglass travel trailer (1976 Boler) and with the very cheap cost of campgrounds and the savings of preparing your own food, vacations or fishing trips even involving some miles are within the budget. Here's a picture of the rig - only about 1000 lbs. so it doesn't affect mileage to badly. Looking forward to taking it up North to NH this fall. Tight lines, Alec
