I have been fresh water flyfishing for about 4 years now, and it goes without saying that it is a passion. I have been very interested in trying my hand at saltwater, but I'm really unsure as to the ideal wt. rod, flies needed and places to go. I am about 11/2 hours from the coast of NH, so it wouldn't be a daily thing, but I have no idea as to where to go for stripers, blues, etc... Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

To start I would use a 7-10 weight.. Clouser are easy to tie and work well in most colors. I like a sinking line. Yoiu can walk the coast. I like the maine side a little better. I like to walk the rocks looking for a little deep culverts. that hold 10-20ft of water. I stripping basket helps from shore, it keeps your line from being washed out or damaged from the rocks. Then let it rip. You can spend a whole day walking the coast and finding some good spots.
Good Luck

Excellent advice. I fish an eight weight from shore.
