...would be how to describe today's fishing. The mentor and I hit the last of the outgoing. Hook ups were pretty regular. All of the fish were abnormaly large for this time of the year. A definite lack of smaller fish... Our friend Bruce who has been fishing this place at this same time for a long time was a bit concerned. My records, which date back only a fraction of his time, indicate something different as well, supporting his concern. Usually it is 20-60 small fish at this stage of the tide? Today it was more like anywhere from 6-10 between 23-31"... In any event, here are the results...

Not a bad season opener...

Good Job Boy's!

Different is right, the fish seem unusual large this year based on the reports I have read and the results of my last 2 trips.

I fished Bass river 2 weeks ago and we caught 1 fish, other years we would have caught 50+ under 24" typically. Those fish where not there. I have caught fish like this in Bass river since the Bass comeback, the water temps where perfect as well as the tide.

This is what went done prior to the crash, Big fish then no fish.Have to wait and see.

On the Plus Side

I can't wait to see what Joppa looks like 2nd week in june this year, it was loaded with +35" fish last year. Wonder what this year will be like.
Heard a report of a +45" fish caught at the Dam in Lawerence this past weekend. Should be interesting to say the least.

The Tuna are in Virginia as well I here, I am dusting off the 15wght for a early bite. Should be a great Season!
