Well?! What rod were you using? Line? Weather conditions. From shore? from boat? Any size to it?

Fishing from shore, Portsmouth area. Never saw the fish. A 6 Wt Rod. Small skunk hair mixed black and white streamer on #4 SS hook with glued on eyes. Mid afternoon bright sun. An hour before low. Not a good time but I stop to fish any chance I get. I saw some minnows in the shallows.

I generally travel with 3 rods set up ready to go in the van. Driving inland I carry a 2,4, and 6 wt. Near salt I change to a 6,8 and 9 Wt. Each grouping has a fly vest with tackle box ready to go just in case. The 6 Wt I can use either fresh or salt if I end up where I had not foreseen.

As a youngster I tried to tie classic flies. Now with arthritis I just use what is on hand to tie flies that look buggy or minnowy. ( I buy flies too small for me to tie.) I shot a skunk a few years ago. Love the black and more so the white tail hairs for striper flies. They are longer and more flexible than buck tail. (I do mix varying amonts of chartreuse dyed buck tail and sometimes sparkly stuff and glue on eyes.)

My 8 Wt is being repaired and my 9 Wt aggravates my shoulder; I want to swap the 9 Wt for a 7 Weight. ( An inexpensive St Croix, Premier, 4 piece 9ft 9 Wt ))

OK You want some fish porn. Here is a Jack Crevelle. Much scorned but pound for pound as strong and fast as any fish.
