I would like to make some Lobster Flies.

Anyone who can help I would truly appreciate it.

I have seen some patterns, however I was not really impressed with them. I would like to make them about 6-8 inches long and kinda heavy.

Thanks

Blake

Try looking for crayfish patterns and tie them to the size you need. I've seen some rather lifelike crayfish patterns over the years.

They say Stripers love lobster as much as.....well, I think BC hinted at it, as much if not more than people do!!! So I think you're onto something Blake...

Go to the CCA dinner this spring in Portsmouth, good cause, good food good wine, cold beer and there's a guy there who ties lobster patterns that look ready to be dropped into the steamer!

Here's one I came up with. It's tied on a #1 hook because that's the largest hook I had at the time. To tie it larger go to a bigger hook and tie the materials porportionally to the desired hook size.

Hey scruffy nice fly.

How did you keep the tail from rolling the fly at rest?

Thanks s@ary,
The tail is hinged and will flap when you pull on the leader. Haven't tried it yet, waiting for the rock fish to arrive.
The eyes are dumbells and keep the head pointed down.
