I came up with a pattern that would make a good strike indicator. Using yellow Deer Body Hair, a #10, 1XL dry hook, & yellow thread. Lay the deer hair along, but on top, of the hook shank so that half of the length hangs over the back of the hook. Tie down the hair like you would lead going up and down the length of the hook shank, but not pulling too tightly. At this point, using head cement or zap-a-gap, glue the hair in place on top of the hook shank. After the fly dries, fold the rest of the hair over the top of the shank back toward the eye and tie off at the eye. Trim the same way you would an elk hair caddis, whip finnish and lacquer the tie off.
