That's a killer permit fly can you share the recipe?

Thanks Geoff.

Here's a close up of that fly. My last trip down the winds were howling up to 30 mph pretty much the entire time. Not the easiest pattern to cast long distances consistently and accurately in those winds.

Recipe:
Hook: Your favorite saltwater hook size #4-1/0
Thread: Your favorite, chartreuse.
Mouth/Feelers: Tan marabou, sili legs pearl/fl orange tip, 4-5 strands of krystal flash, pink antron.
Claws: pumpkin colored fly tails (great movement when retrieved or sitting), also 2 brown hackles splayed.
Eyes: 40lb hard mono burnt with a black bead slipped over each melted end, dipped in epoxy.
Carpace: Bottom- tan furry foam, top- tan dubbing (in this photo). Also use a lot of Cinnamon Caddis dubbing (already has bits of chartreuse blending in).
Legs: White round rubber legs colored with permanent markers.
Weight: Dumbell, different sizes to ensure you can cover the different depths of the water column where the fish are.
Whip finish and your ready to fish.

This pattern has taken 6 permit in the last 2 years. Much more friendly casting in big winds, a great option when needed to offer something less bulky.
