Where do you fly fish in New Hampshire?
I'm not looking for your specific honey holes just a general idea thats all.
I personally like the upper Connecticut River in the Pittsburg area. I gotta try some of the ponds I found up there.
Are there good fly fishing only ponds similar to Maine?
Thanks,
I'm usually on the Souhegan; it's close to home. The Nissitissit and Nashua are also close enough

Try Clarksville Pond. Also Boundry Pond and Scotts Bogg.

The Pemi is hard to beat in the early summer, espcially after some heavy stockings go in. It can be fickle at times, but it's well worth the time it takes to get to know it.

I think we should have "A Day on the Pemi" this spring.

it is always fun to fish in the white mountains. Most brooks/rivers/streams hold wild brookies, and some amazing scenery

The Connecticut between Colebrook and Pittsburgh has a lot of great spots. Little Diamond and Big Diamond pond between Colebrook and Dix Notch are also pretty good still water.

One pond that I've had on my short "must fish" list for several springs is Willard Pond off rt 123 in Antrim. It's FFO and only 45 mins from me but I've yet to make it over. Anybody have any experiences there. I stopped at Noon one day last May just to take a look and the mosquitos were unbelievable. I would have been happier if they were caddis.

Wow. I'd forgotten about Willard Pond! I fished that years and years ago. Most of the land around it is owned by the Audubon Society as I remember. Caught lots of fish there but nothing very large, although I've been told by reliable sources there are some very large fish there.
Willard Pond I remember that place now that you guys mention it. I fished it once about 11 yrs ago with an acquaintance that lived in Antrim. It wasn't bad a few small brookies. If were talking about that part of the state has any body fished Nubinusit (spelling may be off) in Hancock? I've heard it has a large smelt population so I would assume it has some big trout. The NH fish & Game show they run on NH PBS did a blurb about it once. I used to go there with a buddy many many years ago to water ski and was surprised how clean and clear the water was. You could easily see down 20 feet. If there is a smelt population there must be some feeder streams for them to spawn in. Maybe an early spring excursion to explore the stream mouths for big trout could be fun.

Where you really want to fish is Spoonwood, which is connected to Nubanusic (I can't spell it either, but thats the way it sounds).

I like to fish the Pemi and the Contoocook when I have most of the day or more. When I only have a few hours I like to fish Wiswall Dam, Pickpocket Dam, or a small section of the Lamprey in Raymond. I think a day on the Pemi this spring is a great idea.
