I'm ready to break my new Kennebec. If you know of anybody else that wants to come along I have a old Caddis they can use. It's a bear to get in and out of but it works great once you get out in the deeper water.

I also have an old caddis avail. All you'd need would be fins. PW, glad to see you'd jump in here.

Never tried pontooning the Andro but did have two very attractive young ladies float by me in inner tubes once!

Fessie - where's Hall Pond?

Profile would be another good one or the pond up the eastern side of 93 by the campground.

Hall Pond is in Sandwich Notch, Sandwich. The other pond you're referring to is Russell Pond. That pond is in a Federal reserve and you have to pay to park at it. I don't know, I just can't bring myself to pay to park to go fishing. Besides, I've fished that pond several time and have never don well there. There is also Sky Pond in New Hampton.

Russell Pond is one of my favorite campgrounds, but I , too, have fished the pond a dozen times spring, summer and fall and have never taken a fish. I have never even seen a good hatch come off in the evening. I have seen wormers catch trout with a couple of split shot on the bottom, but time spent in my float tube there has just been good exercise. We usually take a run down to the Pemi, Profile or Upper Hall in the evening. What a great spot to camp, however. Lots of bear at Russell Pond. leave your food in the car overnight! One other good stretch of water that isn't too far away if the Ammonoosuc north of Twin Mtn. Beautiful water that is stocked pretty well in the spring and also holds some wild 6-10" fish that are a lot of fun.

Fess I think your going to have to pay to park at Hall Pond as well. Last time I was there I think there was a can for money.

Ya, It really sucks to basically have to pay to use public land!!!!! I have to bite my lip on this one and keep cool. Its hard not to get p.o. when ever I think about the whole National Forest system and why this pay to park thing exists.

What we'll have to do is all meet someplace and pile into one or two vehicles and head out to the pond.

So, I see the maps for Sky Pond ... and that its' fly fishing only ... just curious ... as I have not yet been there.

Is it wadable? Room for back casts? or do you need a float tube?

It's about 80 miles for me, but looks like its pretty easy to get too.

411 please?

Sky pond is best fished with a canoe/kayak/tube/pontoon. It is wadeable near the canoe launch; up the right side of the pond to the first cove; and by taking the trail to the left from the launch point to a little cove about 50 yards from the parking lot. There is very little room for a backcast in any of these locations.
