That is the tune. I only learned of this tune this week! How did I ever miss it? How could it be I never knew of Eddie Hazel? The guy is dead already! I listened to his Maggot Brain solo on the TV show House in the Down Low episode. I had to know who it was playing that lead.
I guess I can do a down load but I am concerned about doing that on the net. Much safer to get copy of an existing CD from a fly guy I think. My step son would down load mp3's and I got all sorts of spy crap.
Listen to the "head" version rather than the live. The live you posted doesn't do it for me.

Bobby - I edited the original posting. I don't think that was Hazel or Hampton. This one is the head version I think you are referring to. I came across another version where Hampton and Hazel are on stage together.

and I had never heard of Hazel before your post. I had heard of Funkadelic and George Clinton, but I never heard any guitar playing like this being associated with them.

Did you listen to the studio cut in which Eddie plays over a simple Em chord progression?
That is the cut they used on House. It just blew me away.
