These new stand up boards are a big fad right now. I am sure they will see some people get into it in the warmer climates, but I doubt they will ever really catch on up here in the northeast.

I sort of expected a great white to chomp the board in half.
I don't see that going anywhere.

I'm surprised Relheok didn't find that first. HA! He seems to have a knack for finding girls in bikinis with fishing gear. Say, what "keywords" do you use Relheok? ;)

I'm a little worried that the first few responses to this post were about the board she was on. After seeing her double haul I am ready marry that goddess. I wonder if she would like a fishing partner to film her?

Don't be worried Nate, as you get older you find out there are far more important things than high maintenance bikinis. But if it makes you happy, she did have good form jumping up and down and straddling that board. Now had she actually caught a fish.... I would have been impressed.
Skirts is skirts, they are a dime a dozen. But a 5# Brookie on a fly, now that's sexy..
Being in the paddle sport business, I have been approached for the past 3 years to carry these boards. Fancy brochures and pics of babes and guys in spandex that have most likely never even seen a fly rod, in warmer climates standing and paddling a board. I just don't think we will ever see a Magalloway model or a rangeley racer in the line-up.

It looks like she hooked a fish, but missed 'em at around 1:10

I surf, and I'll tell you - stand up paddleboards are the worst thing to ever happen to the sport. I've thought this could be a good use for them but have never had the cash to try it out. They are stable enough with practice, but hook a big striper or something and there's a good chance you'd end up in the water.

What? Why are they the worst thing to happen to the sport?

The people that use them, in general, have absolutely no idea what they're doing. Surfing isn't a particularly easy sport to learn and those who do it have spent a lot of time in the water. They understand how it all works and they can be safe when in larger, more dangerous surf. However, it doesn't take much time at all to learn how to stand up paddleboard. The hardest part, getting up, is already over - you're standing from the beginning. As they are so large with so much float, they can generate enormous amounts of speed, especially with a paddle. This means that they can now catch waves much earlier than surfers on short boards or even longboards can. As most don't know what they're doing, they ignore the rules of the water and create a very dangerous and often hostile environment. In New England, we don't often get days when everything comes together - the weather, the wind, the waves, etc. When it happens and you are repeatedly put in dangerous positions because of people who don't understand what's going on, it's incredibly frustrating. It's not just stand up paddleboarders, it can be literally anyone in the water (and I mean anyone... I've met many incompetent lifeguards out there, too). The problem is that with the easier learning curve of the SUP, it's more common to see people who shouldn't be out there on bigger days on SUPs than on short/longboards. With the size and weight of these boards, not to mention the sharp fins, one hurdling towards you can literally kill you. That's not a situation that I want to be in.
