Caught five stripers this morning on the incoming tide and missed two others. One was 28" and rally fat. The others were around 18-20". Fish were active for a good 45 minutes or so, and were feeding on small bait about an inch or less. They almost looked like baby silversides. Does anyone know if they spawn here? They weren't caught at my usual spots but way up in a creek area. Sorry I cant disclose it as it's a small area and I'm hoping that Otter can get into some tomorrow.

Good deal,
Silversides fornicate back in the marshes in early summer. They have a realy short lifespan, and only live for a few years.

Good Work, I have heard good reports from up north so fish are still migrating, weather has been the bigest factor for me this fall. I bagged it early and put my salt water gear away, my Fresh water season usually begins now anyway, off to a good start so far. Only gets better from here.

I am most grateful that Rainbow did not spot burn this place. My endurance is such (back on chemo) that I can only get to a small fraction of the spots I have regularly fished.

A second reason is that I introduced rainbow to this spot last year after keeping it as my own secret place before last year! It is a last chance spot each October after the stripers seem to have moved out. (Of course rainbow shows me his special spots for which I am also grateful.)

I'll also be trying a second similar spot as well tomorrow. One of the secrets to catching fish is to have a tight circle of friends of equal skills and knowledge who report to each other immediately upon finding success. But it has to be equals sharing with equals with absolute trust built up over years. No spot burning.

Anyhow. Today it was back to trout: A brown/rainbow double this evening.

What is the secret to catching doubles? You know what I think about the bead head prince nymph? Just use them in tandem which is what I did briefly today. I seldon do this because I really don't wish to catch doubles. One at a time is more fun.

There still are a couple of stripers around at precisely the exact time and place; and only if we are lucky. It is just about over. But with the trout streams so low............ Sorry, no spot burning.
