If you get the chance, watch this program.

I watched one on NHPTV today - a great program concerning Dr. Shigeru Nakano, his work and that of his colleagues who we all will one day owe a debt of gratitude to for keeping our sport alive.

One of the most interesting points in the program - the introduction of rainbow trout has been found to have the same effect on introduced rivers as deforesting the banks from the perspective of the food web concerning stream/forest ecology.

Should include this - much better than my own intro.

RiverWebs - A documentary film about life, death, science, and streams

RiverWebs chronicles the inspiring life and work of the pioneering Japanese ecologist, Dr. Shigeru Nakano. From his boyhood exploration of Japan’s mountain streams to his leadership of an international effort to understand river ecosystems, Nakano’s life demonstrates the unquenchable curiosity and bold creativity that drive scientific discovery. Yet it is Nakano’s tragic death that shows us the profound personal impact of his life, and reveals what is perhaps the greatest scientific strength... community.
