Walked along a trout stream today, up into the woods, sat under a blue sky and shot a deer. I was thinking about how fortunate I am to be able to do this. As I filled out my tag and filled in the date I was reminded why I am so fortunate to live as I do. It's because at this moment around the world, men and women of the United States Armed Forces are watching out for all of us and keeping us safe and free.
Thank You to all that serve, have served and that have family that wear the uniform of the greatest nation on earth.
Happy Veterans Day!

While we often argue about the plight of the economy and of crooked politicians, it is important to speak to those who have seen the alternative. My advice to all is to speak with a veteran today if you can. These conversations remind us how lucky we are.
Dittos to all above. Thank you Vets, and families, for your service.

“The 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month”, probably not many remember the significance of those words.
In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Hats off to all vets today.

I recently lost my dad who gave up three years of his life fighting major battles in World War II. He got rejected at first because of poor eyesight, but someone in the family knew a high ranking general who pulled some strings to get him in. He had an easy way out but felt it was his duty to go. How good is that! So as we fish, hunt, and do all the things we like to do, let's never forget the brave men and women who allow us to do all these things that we sometimes take for granted.

Had to look up the meaning of the 11th hour quote. Thanks for the reminder!
