My wife had another bone marrow biopsy on Wednesday, and it came back clean. Just got the complete results today. At this point, this is about the best outcome we could have hoped for. There is always the possibility it could come back, but they have put her on a new oral medication to prevent that from happening. They will be transferring her to a rehab facility, which is close to home, on Monday or Tuesday, for physical therapy. She should be ready to come home in another couple of weeks, and from then on she will be treated as an outpatient.
Thanks to all of you for the prayers and support. You'll never know how much it meant to us.

FF99...
That is awesome news.
Come on - she's put up with you for many moons... A little thing like cancer ain't gonna even make her flinch.
But truly - that is great news. I have too many friends that have been through cancer in the past year and luckily they have all beaten it. Got to love the wonders of modern science and a great support group.

That is great to hear and more good reason for hope down the road. My mother in law just had her quarterly checkup and is doing great - after initially being given +-30 days back in 2005.

Bill and Mitzi, Glad to hear the news!!!!!!
My mom went through stomach cancer surgery and treatments a year and a half ago and so far she is now cancer free. Through faith and super treatment she has pulled through it all with flying colors.:):) But, as you say it can return at any time. Need to keep on top of it every day.:wink:
God's blessing is apon the two of you.

Flyfish99:
Thanks for asking. The good news is that I am still around. I receive an intravenous infusion of Chemo almost every Thursday morning. It is keeping the cancer in check for now. But it leaves me pretty exhausted; especially on the weekend. I gain some strength back for a few days before being hit again. It has been a difficult winter since I am definitely not cut out to be a couch potato.
This winter I have skipped one week each month so I could regain some strength, go to Florida, and do some fishing. As the weather warms, I will be given longer breaks between infusions so I can gain enough strength to get back into more active trout, salmon and striper fishing. It is a risk/benefit decision which we all make together. For me, I would prefer to have more action even if it means risking an earlier demise. Every one and every situation is different.
So the prognosis continues to be that I will most certainly be around for 6 months and unlikely to be around in 6 years. Being in my bones and so many places, it almost certainly is incurable. But it can be kept at bay for "some" time. Curiously the cancer, even in my bones, has as yet never given me pain or limited my activities. So far, it is strictly the Chemo which is debilitating.

I never realized how debilitating chemo can be. My wife received one round for 5 straight days. When that didn't work, they let her rest for a couple of weeks, and hit her with two smaller doses a day for six days, plus Nexavar, the oral medication I mentioned. The combination cleared the cancer, but has required an additional 5 weeks of hospitalization and will require weeks of physical therapy, not to recover from the cancer, but from the treatment.
Glad to hear you are doing well enough to be planning fishing trips, and I wouldn't bet that you won't be around in six years. You are truly an inspiration to me.
Good news indeed. Thank you both for the updates.
You remain in our prayers.
