I've seen bears do that at the bird feeder but not the pups!
That's a new one, a vertical point on a bird :)

Young Bromley can't make up his mind if he's a setter, a human or a bear.
He's a good boy.

George Bird Evans would've loved to see that point.

I can picture a squirrel just out of frame giving him the business. :)
I'll tell ya--between the squirrels and the 'munks, they sure keep the boys occupied.
:)
The little chippers actually come up on the deck and tease the pups through the patio doors and the same for the one living under the front stoop. Staring contests.
Its a riot!

Orange Belton Squirrel Protection. :)
I had an Orange for 14 years, probably the best woodcock dog I've owned. Lost a Black and White out of the Tekoa Line a year and a half ago at 5, I have his son now (a Tri-Color) at 2 years old. He's looking good with about 400 birds shot over him already (first year he was 6 months and still managed 60). I had Retrievers for years and my Son does now along with a great Britt......but Setters are handsome clowns and anyone who doesn't love them , has no soul.

Sounds like you hunt in the UP or some such.
Or maybe you spend a lot of time at a preserve?
Anyway--that is great for you and the pup.
I wish I could say so much.

He gets a mix of woodcock/grouse, State Pheasants and Preserve out of season and during deer gun season (those white tails are to risky). Three of us hunt him and the other 2 family dogs hard.
