By "ice out", you must mean when it starts to warm-up and the shelf ice disappears. Heard it can be a beautiful little stream to fish. Don’t know much about it. I’m interested to see what people have to say.

I've never fished the Mad, but I am going to explore the Pemi down in that area this year. Wanna come?

I think it's pretty much a put and take river although it does have some small native brook trout too. It has a lot of pocket water. I have heard that the fishing where it meets the Pemi can be good.

I've fished it a few times without any success. I'm with Ken I think it gets fished out. The Pemmi and the Hall ponds are in the area with much better fishing.
