Ouch...just bought my fishing, hunting, archery and turkey licenses and $76.50 later I got them. Not complaining because I certainly get my money's worth out of them but was wondering what everyone else thought.
Do we get our money's worth?

I pay the non-resident cost and still feel I'm getting more than my moneys worth. You can't ski for one day for that kind of money, and I think golfers probably pay more too. For the priviledges you get, sporting licenses are cheap. Alec

Alec,
That is a really good point. As sportsmen we think we are out in nature and that it should cost us little or nothing. That is not the case.
Look at the money we spend on gear. What would be nice is a new england licenses. You only go through the effort at one location, and you don't have to sweet getting a licenses last minute.

Another thing that one needs to consider is how much it costs to fund the fisheries program in NH. The thousands upon thousands of fish that are stocked every year require lots of money and manpower to produce and maintain.
When you ask if i feel like I am getting my money's worth out of my lisence, my answer is an unwavering yes, although I feel that the greedy and ignorant actions of others do detract from my experience as well as keep the cost of my lisence up. I am refering to the practice of keeping the absurd limit of 5 fish each outing. A "put and take" system will always be the most costly and least effective means of maintaining a fishery. I hate to get on my soap box, but if the state were to alter it's laws and if anglers were to act with forethought and responsibility, we would not only pay less for a lisence, but get more from our time on the water.

When I buy my fishing and hunting license all I think about is, New Hampshire. It might cost alot of money, but when you think about it look what you get to fish for Broodstock Salmon, Stripers in the salt as well as Sea - run browns, backcountry Brook Trout ponds not to mention the natives in small brooks, Landlocked Salmon, Large and Smallmouth as well as Northern Pike. With hunting the state offers a Moose lottery, stocking for birds, Turkey seasons the list goes on when you think about it, New Hampshires not a bad place at all and I am glad that learned to become a sportsmen and most of all a fly fisherman in such a great area ! :)

Hey Salmon Slayer
I just read your post about the license fees. I agree with you, but with a name like "Salmon Slayer" it sounds like you are a killer. Maybe you ought to be Salmon Spanker. I only say this for a laugh!! May you be into the backing soon!!

Haha, i agree, the name Salmon Slayer doesn't sound like a conservation-minded fisherman. I got the name from one of my college roomates who was and is my constant fly fishing companion (known on this forum as Brook Trout Bully). It was intended as a joke, hope nobody really thinks I'm on the river filling stringers with salmon, in truth I am a die-hard catch and release fisherman.
Tom, i am originally form Derry, pretty close to your shop, and I look forward to coming by. Tight lines.
