Switch Rod Build

So this year's winter build will be a switch rod in advance of a potential steelhead trip. As I know nothing about steelhead or switch rods, I'm looking for input.

I've built on a Rainshadow blank...

Caught this little guy in a freshwater stream. Does this fall into the generic "shiner" category? Anyone have an actual (common) name?
