In my opinion I would look at changing vests. Look into Patagonia vests. I use the Sci Angler System 3 boxes and they fit very well into the pockets of my Patagonia vest. In addition, the system 3 boxes are also pretty water resistant/watertight and float well if dropped into the drink.

I like the old Perrine aluminum boxes. Two sizes, the small ones will fit in a shirt pocket, and they are almost indestructable. Unfortunately they are no longer made but they do show up on auction sites from time to time.

This is a great box. Good price. Holds all types and sizes of flies.
You'll be happy with this box.

I second these boxes. I had one in my pocket once when I was wading on the coast without waders and it was fully submerged under at least 3 feet of water for about a half hour. when I got out I was sure all my flies would be soaked but they were dry! at about $19 for the med one its not a bad price either.
