Default Fantastic Old Adirondack Guest Book

I was flipping through the most recent Adirondack Life and found an article on the guest book that a wealthy financier had at his Adirondack "camp" from about 1905-1915. It has some amazing sketches and provides a great snapshot into life (and privileged life) at the time. You can see the complete digital guest book at ... http://picasaweb.google.com/marsha.s...tBookComplete#

For those familiar with the area, the camp was on Upper Saranac Lake.

Default Fascinating History

I was first drawn to this post because as a Boy Scout, we had canoed through from Old Forge to Saranac (where Fish Rock Camp is situated).
The pages are remarkable.

As I began to leaf through the specific pages, in addition to well crafted sketches and rambling verse, I found family names I recognized as being some of the prominent NY bankers of the time. Seligman, Warburg, Loeb, Schiff and their families. Very interesting. It appears that Fish Rock Camp - later called Seton - was one of their getaways. The 'camp' comprised numerous buildings to accomodate the lifestyle to which these folk were accustomed. For those interested I found a short history here: http://www.sekonassociation.com/file...RROUNDINGS.pdf

Thanks for posting.
