Wiswall dam progress?

Anyone know what the progress with all the construction at wiswall dam is?

Swung by last week. All the heavy equipment is gone but the No Trespassing signs are still up.

I spoke with a gentleman that was taking measurements on the progress so far last week when I hit the river one afternoon. He said the majority of the work is done but they will be back in probably April to install some sort of grating or gate to prevent debris from entering the ladder.

Has anyone know of any changes to the Lamprey regulations? The law states that fishing in the area of a fishway is closed. The new law book says to call F&G for the new rules. I see a lot of fishing area being closed if the usual 200' downstream deal is in place.

Here is how the new regulation will be worded: The Wiswall Dam in Durham shall be closed to all fishing in the waters 50 feet above the Wiswall Dam year round and closed to all fishing 200 feet below Wiswall Dam between April 1 and July 31. Three Rivers Stocking and TU worked with Fish and Game on this to keep the fall and winter fishery available in this stretch of water.

Oh man so that means that the pool under the power lines will be closed this summer (I think its within 200 ft of the dam) I always catch smallies there in the summer. Kind of a bummer.

I stopped by the Wiswall Dam yesterday. (My first time ever being there.) The No Tresspassing sign was still up. I called the F&G on the spot, and they said the area was completely open to use and to ignore the sign. Okay..why not just remove the sign?

However, it seems the signage has pretty much been ignored already. It was obvious there had been alot of foot traffic along the river.
