Default Brook Trout Survey Volunteers Needed

This could be a great oppertunity for a new fisherman to learn alot about trout and insects.

Volunteers Needed to help with Brook Trout Survey on the Ammonoosuc River.

During the week of July 23th through the 27th, fisheries biologists from NH Fish and Game will be conducting a survey of Brook Trout in the Ammonoosuc River Watershed. Volunteers are needed to help Fish and Game with the survey. The Ammonoosuc Trout Unlimited Chapter has agreed to coordinate the volunteer effort for this survey. This is a great opportunity to visit some of the tributaries of the Ammonoosuc and see the populations of our beloved Brook Trout. You will have a chance to learn more about their habitat and to identify the insect populations in the stream. It will involve a lot of work directly in the streams so waders and boots will be required. Art Greene is coordinating the effort for our TU chapter. Contact Art as soon as possible at 603-444-4892or afgreene@roadrunner.com if you are interested in helping for any (or all) of the days.

I would highly recommend this if you have the time. I helped do the same thing on a local river watershed and found it very interesting. It's amazing where you find wild fish and I learned a ton about habitat, bugs, and ultimately fishing.

I also met some nice people who are committed to the fisheries of NH.

I agree. If they are electroshoking you will see some trout that will blow your mind. It will also put to rest that NH can't grow sizable wild brook trout.

I had a great day on the upper stretches of that river last Summer. Fun small stream water...gorgeous river with beautiful brookies.
