Androscoggin Drift

Submitted - 2005-06-07
Drifted 7 miles of the Androscoggin in the 13 Mile Woods with NH Guide Jim Norton. The river was flowing at 2050 CFS and the surface temp was 61 degrees. Jim rowed and I fished. Fishing was fair and the casting arm was tired at the end of the day. Caught and release about a dozen trout and five smallmouths. The insect activity was starting in the late afternoon. Mostly mayflies and pockets of caddis. Flies for the day were nymphs and woolly buggers. I did catch a brown on a dry fly in the evening. I think the river is starting to wake up after our spring rains and it should only get better for June if our weather holds. Jim does a very nice job on the river. If you are thinking of a drift, give me a call and I can hook you up. This report was provided by Mountain Road Fly Shop in Raymond, NH.
