Pittsburg & Twin Mt fishing
Submitted - 2006-07-09
Oh what a day we had on the Ammonussoc River in Twin Mountain. The weather was sunny, seventy degrees and water level was perfect. It was a weekday, no one around and we had the river to ourselves. Fished all morning long using the same dry fly and caught well over a dozen fish (all rainbow and one brookie) ranging in 12 - 14 inches on a small stretch of the river. The angler that was with me is just getting back into freshwater fly fishing. He had never fished the Ammo and what a great time he had. We could not have picked a better day for fishing.
We fished over the weekend up in Pittsburg with much luck. The water level was pretty good and the fishing was fabulous. Caught a 20" salmon on a dry fly. I set up an angler with a turks tarantula and a dropper (bh soft hackle hares ear) and he had alot of success. Blue wing olives were coming off with a few black stone flies especially in the evening. We hiked quite a ways up from bridge pool on the trophy section and caught alot of browns and rainbows with just a few brookies all ranging in 12 - 20" sizes. This report was provided by W.S.
